Banchetto: no tricks, just more treats!

It was such a short notice when my office mate Jolan and his wife Mhilet ( also my former officemate) asked me if I could help them in decorating their stall named The Good Grub in Banchetto at Robinson’s Forum mall in Mandaluyong City for a Halloween contest. Though I don’t have a lot of ideas in mind that time( since I’ve been very busy with a lot of things lately.. as if I am hehe)  I still agreed to help them ’cause I thought it would be fun!  So together with Joel(also my office mate) who did Jolan’s skeleton face paint, we hurriedly worked on for only an hour before Banchetto opens. Little did I expect that with only some orange and black cartolinas, multicolored webs and a pair of scissors that it would grab the judges attention, but it did! It won the Most Creative Halloween decor, yay !

Here’s Jolan and Mhilet with their little bewitchingly cute daughter Zitka in the mood for some magic in their stall called The Good Grub, where they sell Gourmet Burgers, Tacos etc.

Banchetto in Robinson’s the Forum is located in the mall’s parking grounds, where people could enjoy variety of food choices from different stalls every wednesdays, thursdays and fridays from 8:30pm till 6am. It’s a cutting edge dining experience where you could sit, eat and talk with family and friends in a festive street stall ambience.

Anyway, if any of you haven’t been to Banchetto yet, it’s actually a night market which started in 2007. This place is a haven for many night owls( those who work night shifts, especially BPO employees) as well as for those who would take their meals before going home or those who simply enjoy evening food trips. The aroma of so many different food choices immediately welcomes anyone who enters this maze of stalls. There are viands for full meals, grilled specialties, street foods, local and international dishes, burgers, sandwiches, pizza, pastries, cakes, refreshments and a lot more! Oh say good luck to your weight, who wouldn’t get tempted surrounded by all these right?

From home made pastas, barbecues to “turo-turo” specialties like “kwek-kweks”(flour coated eggs) and squid balls, Banchetto has it all!

Get dizzy in the flavorful and mouth watering aromas from a variety of delicacies, from vegies, meat, seafoods, pizzas and home baked sweet indulgences.

This night in Banchetto is more alive, I guess due to the Halloween party vibe where every stall are decorated and vendors are in their most creative, not to mention spookiest costumes. Mobile cameras are flicking everywhere, these guys are the main attractions of the night haha! Aside from these kids could also enjoy trick or treating, and of course they get more treats!

Vendors and stall owners are the stars of the night in their spookiest or quirkiest Halloween costumes attracting a lot of customers. This scene made me imagine how the Addams family and their relatives would look like if they become entrepreneurs,or imagine zombies making a living in a night market hehe 🙂

I’m also lucky to be able to meet Banchetto’s beautiful owner Liz Jose who was very nice and accomodating despite her cunning witch costume that night complete with fake green fingers. She introduced me to some of her friends from the Rotary International District 3800 who setup donation boxes accepting monetary as well as old clothes toys or anything to help those who were affected by the recent earthquake in Bohol.

It was such an enjoyable and fulfilling night  where I get to taste some of the good stuffs, meet people, witness everyone enjoying their food, mingling and taking photos as well as giving for a good cause. Oh of course I’d be back there again since a night would be too short for a food adventure, and besides Mam Liz told me there’d be more fun during the Christmas season very soon, see you in Banchetto guys!
